The caves open at Vallorbe

200'000 visitors to the caves,
a need arises for accomodation in the locality 

   
August 1977

A regional enquiry of the youth hostel proposes the need of a youth hostel in the Jura region. Vallorbe is chosen.

Why Vallorbe?

  • Numbrous requests of accomodation from groups and schools wishing to visit the area and the Vallée de Joux.
  • Vallorbe is positioned on the footpath of the peaks of Jura and close to the main railway lines.
  • Tourist attraction created by the caves of Vallorbe
  • Numbrous beautiful walking excursions
10 july 1981

The opening of the Iron museum in the center of the village in 1980 increases the interest in the region of Vallorbe, so the «Social Tourism Vallorbe Association (STVA) is established.

   
 16 april 1982

 Transformation of the old administration building of the "Clématéite" and creation of a youth hostel. 

   
 23 june 1983

Official opening of the youth hostel. 

   
 1983 to 1998

 3 couples follow each other in managing the hostel for the youth hostel association. 

   
 September 1998

Youth hostel Association closes the hostel because if insufficient customers compared to the others youth hostels. 

   
 Winter 1998-1999

The STVA manages the youth hostel temporarily. 

   
 April 1999

Opening of the AUBERGE POUR TOUS (Guest house)
The STVA manages the hostel
New name :             « Auberge pour Tous »
New management:   independant management 

   
 From 1999 to 1st july 2003

The « Auberge pour Tous » is managed by 2 different couples 

   
 From 1st July 2003

 Mr et Mrs Badir manage the « Auberge pour Tous »
